And they sent to me four times in this way, and I answered them in the same manner. In the same way Sanballat for the fifth time sent his servant to me. —Nehemiah 6:4-5

So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days. —Nehemiah 6:15

And Tobiah sent letters to make me afraid. —Nehemiah 6:19

What is it that God has called you to?   You can be assured that the world, the flesh and Satan will be in opposition to God’s desires for you. You and I need to be on guard “in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes” (II Corinthians 2:11).  We had better to be aware of Satan’s schemes as well to derail us.

In the above verses God had called Nehemiah and the people to rebuild the wall.   Again and again there was opposition, but Nehemiah replied that he was “carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?” (Nehemiah 6:3).   Intimidation, threats and thoughts of personal safety were used to cause Nehemiah to fear and pull back from the work.   But he would have no part in it.   God had appointed him for a mission and he would stick with it. He would not let anyone or anything to distract him from God’s desire to be work out in and through his life.

So what about you and me? Is this our desire? Do we really what to be used by God for His glory?   Then let us not be distracted from what God wants to do not only in our lives, but through our lives! So be it!

Dear Father surely this is my desire as well.   Oh that You’d be pleased to work in and through me to impact many for Your Honor and glory. Yes, dear Father, may this be in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son. Oh Yes, may it be so!
