STUDY… DO… TEACH!
For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel. —Ezra 7:10
Now here is a worthy goal that should be our goal as well. May we: 1- Set our hearts to STUDY the Word of God 2- Set our hearts to DO the Word of God 3- Set our hearts to TEACH the Word of God. This should be the goal of every follower of Jesus Word— STUDY… DO… TEACH. I need to KNOW what God says. I need to DO what God says. I need to TEACH what God says.
So, how am I doing? Let me take an assessment of my own life. How am I STUDYING His Word? How am I DOING His Word? How am I TEACHING God’s Word? To STUDY His Word is to understand what He is saying to me. To DO His Word is to be obedient to what He is saying to me. To TEACH His Word is to share with others what He has said to me and how I have experienced what He has said to me in my life.
So let me think about this in opposite order. Who have I TAUGHT what God has TAUGHT me? What have I OBEYED that which God has wanted me to OBEY? What have I STUDIED as He wants me to STUDY? How am I doing in these areas?
This same principle is mentioned in II Timothy 2:2— “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” Timothy heard and learned. Timothy was to be a reliable person and do what a reliable person does in passing on what he learned to other reliable people who are able also to teach others. Timothy LEARNED, DID what he learned AND TAUGHT what he learned. This is what reliable followers of Jesus are to be about. Dear Father may I be a reliable person that learns, does and teaches Your Word others to do the same. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
