LOVE GOD AND HIS CHILDREN

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. —I John 5:2-3

            How do you know that I love you as a child of God? How do I know if you love me as a child of God? The answer is straight forward from this passage. If we are loving God and being obedient to what He says to us, then we love His children. If I am being disobedient to God then that shows that I do not love His children!

            If I am truly keeping the greatest commandment— “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” then I will be seeking to keep the second command as well— “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37, 39). So if a person truly loves God he will have a love for people as well.

            Do you love God— keeping His Word? Then in what ways are you loving His children? A person cannot love God without loving people!   Today may you and I out of love for God extend love toward somebody?
