WILLING TO DIE FOR JESUS

WILLING TO DIE FOR JESUS

After we had been there several days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.  Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own feet and hands, and said, “The Holy Spirit says: ‘In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and hand him over to the Gentiles.’”  When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.  Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”  When he would not be dissuaded, we fell silent and said, “The Lord’s will be done.” —Acts 21:10-14

In the mist of imminent danger that would threaten his life, Paul did not shrink back and cower from it.  No, on the contrary he said, “I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”  Paul was willing to give his very life in his service to King Jesus.  Hmmmm… are we?

Are we willing to give our life in service to Jesus?  We may not have to die, but if that is what it would come to for serving Jesus, would we have the same mindset as the Apostle Paul?  Here is where “the rubber meets the road.”  What kind of faith do we really have?  Is it a working faith or a dead faith?  Is there evidence for our faith or not?  Am I willing to die to self daily to live for our dear Savior?

I know of a man who had prepared another to lead the ministry organization in case he is killed.  Really this is what every leader should be doing whether they are killed or die a natural death.  They should prepare someone to take their place, but this man is willing to die to serve our Lord Jesus.  This is quite the testimony.

Say nothing about dying for Jesus, How are we willing to live for Him?  We might not have to put our “life on the line” but are we faithfully serving King Jesus anyway?  May that be the case!  If it ever comes to the point of dying for Jesus may we have the same attitude as the Apostle Paul?  May it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo62DelNEC4

Dear Father may I be living in such a way for Jesus that if death comes my way because of doing so I would not shrink back from it.  May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
