CALLED TO BE FISHERS OF MEN!

CALLED TO BE FISHERS OF MEN!

And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” —Mark 1:17

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. —Acts 1:8

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.  Therefore go and make disciplesof all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  —Matthew 28:19-20

Are you following Jesus?  Are you a fisher of men?  For those following Jesus this is what He said He would make them.  Are you one?

I have never caught a fish by sitting on the sofa in my home.  Nor have a caught one when my focus is on something else other than fishing.  No, the only time I have caught fish is when I went to where the fish are— ponds, rivers, brooks, lakes or the ocean.

When was the last time you intentionally went fishing for men?  Maybe you shared Jesus with a friend, a neighbor, a workmate, a classmate, relative or a complete stranger.  Maybe you shared how Jesus drew you to Himself and went through the good news with the person or group.  Or maybe you were able to leave them with the Word of God to read— a tract or pamphlet, a Gospel of John or the New Testament or the whole Bible.

Maybe it was when you were serving one of those people mentioned above and the opportunity came up to share Jesus with them.  Or maybe you were spending time with them when the occasion to proclaim the gospel occurred.  The question is— When was the last time you were intentional about sharing the gospel of our Lord with anyone?  If you have not, why not?

Today, whatever you have planned, may you also have a plan to be ready to share the gospel either verbally or in written form with somebody you come into contact with.  May it be so!

Dear Father may I be ready to share the gospel with any person I come into contact with today.  May it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
