BE HUNGRY!

And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. —Jeremiah 3:15 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2FtpxUt5so

Now here is what shepherds do who have hearts after His own heart— they “feed you with knowledge and understanding.”  It is the shepherd/pastor’s desire that others would know Him and understand Him.  Personally, there gives me no greater joy than to see a follower of Jesus know and understand what the Lord God Almighty is saying to them and then they make the application of His Word to their life.

But I need to understand what He is saying and how to apply His Word to my own life before I can encourage someone else.  Isaiah 50:4 has encouraged me over the years— “The Sovereign LORD has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.”  Spending time with our Lord, listening to Him and applying His Word is truly what makes a follower of His more like Him.  We get His mind by spending time with Him and then being obedient to Him (Philippians 2:1-11).  The early disciples were known to be “unschooled, ordinary men” (Acts 4:13).  The Jewish leaders saw the courage of Peter and John and “they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”  Are you spending time with Jesus?

The only way to become mature in Jesus is to listen to Him, become what He desires and do what He desires.  There is no other way.  Are you spending time with Jesus yourself?  Are you spending time with those who feed others “with knowledge and understanding?”  The disciple will be like his teacher (Luke 6:40) because the disciple’s teacher will be “teaching them to obey all that (Jesus has) commanded (them).”  Together they become more like our Lord Jesus.   May we be feeding and feeders of His Word!

Dear Father may I listen to You above all other voices and then share what You have to say to me with others— all for Your glory.  May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
