REJECTION OF GOD RESULTS IN CONFUSION OF MIND

The LORD will strike you with madness and blindness and confusion of mind. —Deuteronomy 28:28

Deuteronomy chapter 28 is speaking of blessing for obedience and curses for disobedience.  Again, as I mention previously, part of God’s judgment has to do with the mind.  When he judges a person or people they become confused.  They are blind to the truth and they are acting in madness or craziness.  They are not thinking right.

This is what happens when God gives a people over to their own sinful desires (Romans 1:24, 26, 28).  Their thinking becomes darkened.  Even though they think they are wise, God says they are fools.  Instead of worshipping the Creator they worship created things (Romans 1:22-23).  Confusion causes them to practice sexual abominations as men and women lust after their own gender (Romans 1:26-27).  They “become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity” (Romans 1:29).  Culture slides down the slippery slope into greater “madness, blindness and confusion of mind.”  It appears this is what is happening in our culture.

For a person or a people who don’t” think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God,” He will give “them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done” (Romans 1:28).  And all the while those doing what they ought not do think they are wise.  God says they are fools.

So what can we do as follower of Jesus in such a culture?  Be faithful to our Lord God Almighty and “Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.  And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.  Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,  and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:23-26).  When a country or culture slips down the slope into darkness the follower of Jesus is to shine as in any other circumstance.  So let us be faithfully following our Lord and be about His business.  Let us bring the gospel to others knowing that “God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ” and He can do the same thing in the lives of others as we share the gospel with them.  Let us be faithfully doing so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD6khv6pGkw&t=99s

Dear Father, in the midst of this darkened culture please work through me to bring the light of the gospel to those in the darkness.  I am grate to know that You are the One that causes the gospel light to shine in a person’s heart.  Help me to be faithful to bring that light to them.  May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-pYBUCjkqE
