JUDGMENT WILL COME… YES, IT WILL!

JUDGMENT WILL COME… YES, IT WILL!

Then the LORD said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great. Because their sin is so grievous.”  —Genesis 18:20

Before they had gone to bed, all the men of the city of Sodom, both young and old, surrounded the house. They called out to Lot, saying, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Send them out to us so we can have relations with them! —Genesis 19:4-5

Then the LORD rained down brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the LORD out of the heavens. Thus He destroyed these cities and the entire plain, including all the inhabitants of the cities and everything that grew on the ground. —Genesis 19:24-25

God is very well aware of what is going on with people on planet earth as He is in all His creation.  In the context of the verses above we are told by the Lord Himself that Sodom’s “sin is so grievous.”

The two angels that had gone into Sodom were invited to stay at Lot’s house.  The men of the city got wind of his two visitors and a mob showed up at Lot’s door demanding that he send the men outside to them.  Why?  Because these wicked men wanted to have sex with them.  The mob was in a frenzy with their lust and was pressing against the door.  When Lot came out to plead for his visitor’s safety the sodomites threaten him.

The two angels reached out the door and pulled Lot inside.  The angels struck these wicked men with blindness.  Even though this happened to them, even though they were supernaturally struck with blindness, their lustful hearts still prompted them to try to find the door.

Lot is warned by the two angels to gather his loved ones and get out of town because it was going to be destroyed because of its wickedness.  When Lot hesitated the angels grabbed them to lead them out of the city.  When they were safely away “the LORD rained down brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the LORD out of the heavens. Thus He destroyed these cities and the entire plain, including all the inhabitants of the cities and everything that grew on the ground.”

God warned that judgment would come because of Sodom’s evil homosexual practices.  But homosexuality was not the only wicked practice of the sodomites.  A parallel is drawn from Sodom when the Lord pronounces judgment on Jerusalem— “Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen” (Ezekiel 16:49).  Not only that but what happened to Sodom and the surrounding cities are “an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly… on the Day of Judgment” (II Peter 2:6, 9).  Let us warn people to flee from the wrath to come and to take hold of Jesus! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb6bh8QT1IM

Dear Father, please work through me to warn others of Your wrath to come and to encourage people to take refuge in the finished work of Jesus by calling on His Name.  May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUxI-ynsTnM&list=UUf1NPIFOBwzTLVQiEDnq4Cw
