But if any nation does not listen, I will completely uproot and destroy it,” declares the Lord. —Jeremiah 12:17

Nations, any nation, beware! To not listen to the Lord results in a nation’s own destruction. Jeremiah was warning Judah, but this could apply to any nation of the world. As it was Judah would not listen and would go into exile for 70 years as foretold by Jeremiah in 25:11 and 29:10. No nation is immune from the Lord’s judgment and when the Lord moves to judge a nation none can stay His hand. The most powerful nation on earth is puny compared to the Lord’s power. How foolish to stand against Him.

We are to pray for the leaders of our nation and all nations (I Timothy 2:1-4). There are those, even professed believers, that criticize and complain about government leaders and others in authority, but do they pray for them? Yes, may we pray for those in authority and for all people. Is there anyone mentioned in the context of I Timothy 2:1-4 that you are not willing to pray for? If not, why not? How does the Lord view that?

Brothers and sisters let us rejoice in knowing who is King of the nations and Sovereign ruler. This world is a mess because of sin, but King Jesus is still in control and His purposes are being fulfilled. One day the end will come to this age and then for all those who love the Lord there will be rejoicing with Jesus in glory.

My daughter, Hannah, was telling me about a dream that her 5 year old daughter had. Abigail said she had a dream about me, her and Queen Esther on a boat ride in heaven. Then Abigail asked, “When can we go in that boat.” Yes, the nations of earth are a mess because of sin, but someday “we can go on that boat” and be in heaven! What a joy that will be! Meanwhile, pray for all people…

Dear Father, I am so grateful for the hope of heaven we have and to know that You are Sovereign over the nations. May I live out the purposes You have for me and do so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9TjvjBIKcw
