REMEMBER!

No one remembers the former generations, and even those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them. —Ecclesiastes 1:11

Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? —Mark 8:18

Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? —II Thessalonians 2:5

So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things. —II Peter 1:12-15

But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. —Jude 1:17

Do we all have a memory problem? Are we quick to forget? What are those things we remember and what are the things we are soon to forget?

It is amazing how short our memory is or how little we remember of history, even our own family history. Do you remember your grandparents? Do you remember your great grandparents or know anything about them? Do you know anything about your great, great grandparents or know anything about them? Unless you have done genealogical work of your family your remembrance or knowledge of family history quickly evaporates after your great grandparents and that really was not that long ago!

Unless we study history we do not remember history. Our memory of it is very short. This is very unfortunate because instead of learning from history we end up repeating it. It is terrible that we have not remembered and learned from the atrocities man has committed against man in the past. So just as they have been repeated in the past they will be repeated in the present and future.

I am so glad that God has given us His Word so we can remember what He has done in the past, what He is doing in the present and what He will do in the future. Let us remember and hold to His Word.
