BEAR FRUIT BY REMAINING

BEAR FRUIT BY REMAINING

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. —John 15:1-8

So the question is- “Am I bearing much fruit?” By bearing much fruit gives evidence that I am truly a disciple of Jesus. If I am not bearing much fruit then where is there any proof I am a follower of Jesus?

Those branches that are bearing fruit He will prune so that they will bear even more fruit. Have you been through the pruning process? Maybe you are going through a pruning process at the moment. Remember, pruning enables us to bear more fruit and this is for our Father’s glory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FeMNunYgqw

To cut off a branch or part of a branch so there will be more fruit almost doesn’t make sense at first thought. To take away will produce more isn’t the first thought that comes to mind. I will be pruning our lilac shrubs in the next few days. When I prune I will take 1/3 of the top of the shrub right off. A few years ago when I did this my family questioned me and thought that I was killing the poor shrub by cutting so much off. It initially did not look very good, but the next year the lilac shrub yielded plentiful.

Fruit bearing comes when we abide in Jesus. Without Him we can do nothing! We need Him to bear fruit in us and through us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rR_Rdb1CTE We may not look like much from the world’s perspective, but He is preparing for much fruit.

Dear Father, may I abide in Jesus and may You be glorified in my life as I bear much fruit. May You be pleased to do this in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. Yes, so be it!
