Then the officers shall add, “Is anyone afraid or fainthearted? Let him go home so that his fellow soldiers will not become disheartened too.” —Deuteronomy 20:8

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” —Numbers 13:30-33

Be aware of those who are not whole-heartedly following the Lord. They can have a negative impact on others. When the Lord guides individuals, a group of people or a local church into a direction they should go, others who are not faithfully following the Lord may cause those who are to be “disheartened” by their attitudes and actions. Fellow follower of Jesus, be and do what He desires regardless of those around us who may not be faithfully following Him. You be faithful. You be what He desires you to be. You do what He desires you to do. You be faithful!

Dear Father, help me to understand Your desires for what You want me to be and what You desire me to do. As I understand Your desires may I be faithful to them. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
