If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. —I John 1:8-10

Do you presently have any known sin in your life? Why have you not confessed it already? Unconfessed sin keeps us out of fellowship with the Lord God Almighty and that is a dangerous place to be. Ask God to search your heart and then confess any known sin He reveals. If we claim that we are without sin or that we have not sinned then “we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.”

Are we living in deception by not acknowledging our sin? Do we put on the appearance that we do not have any faults and failures? Are we looking to be something on the outside that does not agree with who we really are on the inside? That is hypocrisy! God already knows what is going on. Why not confess to Him? —“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Praise God that the sin of those of us who follow Jesus does not separate us from the love of Christ (Romans 8:37-39). Nothing can do that. But, it does break our fellowship with Him and we need to confess and repent of our sin whenever we sin. Dear Father, please reveal any sin in my life that I may confess, agreeing with You that it is sin. Oh, may I repent of my sin and seek to stay in fellowship with You. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
