KNOWN BY THE ONE THAT TRULY MATTERS!

For the wise, like the fool, will not be long remembered; the days have already come when both have been forgotten. Like the fool, the wise too must die! —Ecclesiastes 2:16

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. —Ecclesiastes 3:11

If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead… —I Corinthians 15:19

Do you remember your grand-parents? How about your great grand-parents, do you remember them? Can you mention anything about your great, great grand-parents? How quickly people are forgotten! One hundred, one hundred and fifty years after a person dies there is little or no remembrance of them. Walk through a cemetery and ponder the older gravestones. Who knows anything about those folks in the 1800’s or 1700’s? Unless a person has written something that has been popular or invented something of use, their existence will be soon forgotten. That is sobering to think about, isn’t it? The wise and the fool will not be long remembered, either one of them after their death.

Think about it for a few minutes and then write down all the names of people you can remember that lived 200 years ago— the 1700’s. Not many people come quickly to your mind, do they? So we too will be forgotten quickly once we pass through death’s door.

But, for those of us who know the Lord Jesus Christ eternity awaits us on the other side of death’s door. We will be with Jesus (proving Himself to be the Son of God by the resurrection from the dead (Romans 1:4) and all who love Him forever. Indeed, we would be “of all people most to be pitied” if Jesus did not rise from the dead. But, hallelujah, He has risen!

How sad really existence would be if this was all there was. We would live a few decades, die and that would be it. But for the follower of Jesus the best is yet ahead! Jesus is preparing a place for us! (John 14:1-6) and one day we will be there with Him. Rejoice that even though the world may forget you… God knows you intimately and will never forget you! Oh, lest us rejoice! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7fL0CbXK3o

Dear Father, thank You for the love You have given me through Jesus! Oh, that I would live faithful for You in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it!
