TREASURE

Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. —Luke 12:34

What do you treasure? Where is your treasure? Are you focusing on the material or the spiritual? Is your focus on those temporary things that will pass away or is it on the eternal that will have eternal impact? Your heart will be where the focus of your treasure is! “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” (Mark 8:36-37). Do you understand how valuable you are to God? If you do not, then you need to take a good look at the cross where Jesus died not only for your sins, but also for the sins of the whole world. You need to consider the eternal consequences of sin and how the eternal Son of God resolved that problem so we could have eternal life, be in relationship with Him now and serve Him now. Do you understand His love for you?

Our focus should be “like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.” Or, “like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it” Matthew 13:44-46). Do we have the right treasure in the treasure chest of our hearts? Are you searching for the right treasure? May it be so!

Dear Father, forgive me for those times I focus on the wrong things… May I focus more and more on the treasure that is important and not that which is so temporal. Oh that this would be the case in the authority of Jesus and by Your Holy Spirit’s power.
