THE IMPORTANCE OF LISTENING TO GOD’S WORD
“So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.” —Luke 8:18
Dear Father, I want to hear what You have to say. That is what is important. You tell me that if I listen to You, then You will give me more understanding. I am trusting You for that. Oh, that I would truly listen to what You have to say and do so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
Years ago Isaiah 50:4 impacted me— “The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.” There is not a better “Instructor” than the Lord Himself. He is available to anyone who is willing to listen to Him consistently and He is the one who truly wakens the “ear to listen like one being instructed.”
The above verse tells us “to pay attention to how” we hear. Are we paying attention to what He is saying? Then, are we putting into practice what He has told us? If so, then He will give us more understanding. Let us be faithful, consistent listeners to what our Lord God Almighty is saying to us. Then be and do what He desires.
