THE SCRIPTURES SAY!

THE SCRIPTURES SAY!

But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone.”

Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’” —Luke 4, 8, 12

The priority communicative importance is not what you or I have to say. The priority communicative importance is what the Lord God Almighty has to say to us. We must understand that everything stands or falls on the revealed Word of God, the Bible. All that we can intimately know about God comes through what He says and given to us by special revelation. If He did not speak, we would still be in the dark. We could know God exists, but we could not know Him. He had to reveal Himself intimately to us for us to know Him.

It is in His Word we learn how to communicate with Him. His Word reveals how a person can be saved from sin to a relationship with Him. His Word reveals what it truly means to be His follower and what that looks like. His Word reveals His plan through the ages. His Word reveals who He is as the triune God— Father, Son and Holy Spirit— which is a teaching that we cannot fully get our heads around, but is clearly taught in His Word. His Word “is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (II Timothy 3:16-1). “My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:2-3). It is through God’s Word that we can receive this complete understanding as the Holy Spirit of God illuminates us through His teaching us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkunT7BYCqw

Jesus when tempted by the devil himself showed us how important the Word of God is. He said three times— “The Scriptures say.” Do we know what the Scriptures say? This is vital in the Spiritual warfare we are in. The Sword of the Spirit, prayer, and the gospel are the offensive weapons in the armor of God and are of priority communicate importance to us. Let us be on the offense according to what the Scriptures say (Matthew 28:19-20). So be it.

Dear Father, thank You for sending Your Word, Your Son Jesus. Thank You also for giving us Your Word in written form that we could bask in Your Light. Thank You that Your Word is the Sword of the Spirit. Oh, that I would go forward with Sword ready to accomplish what You desire. May it be so in the authority of my King Jesus and in the power of Your Spirit.
