THE ROCK

For their rock is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede. Their vine comes from the vine of Sodom and from the fields of Gomorrah. Their grapes are filled with poison, and their clusters with bitterness. —Deuteronomy 32:31-32

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. Jesus is the Rock of our salvation and there are not other rocks like our Rock. He is the Cornerstone and the whole Foundation on which we build our lives. He is the Rock from which living waters flow (Numbers 20:11; Psalm 78:20; Daniel 2:44-45; John 4). Apart from Him there is only deadness (Ephesians 2). According to the verses above those who do not know Jesus and are against Him are likened to being vines crawling forth from Sodom and Gomorrah. The fruit of these vines are bitter and filled with poison. They do not bring life, but death.

Dear Father, thank You for the Rock, Your Son, Jesus. May I be faithfully building up Him. May it be so in His authority and in the power of Your Holy Spirit.
