THE ONLY SALVIFIC CORNERSTONE

As the Scriptures say, “I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honor, and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Yes, you who trust him recognize the honor God has given him. But for those who reject him, “The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.” And, “He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them. —I Peter 2:6-8

“The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone” (Psalm 118:22). “So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic” (Isaiah 28:16). “From Judah will come the cornerstone” (Zechariah 10:4). “Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: “‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes?” (Matthew 21:42). ‘“Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone’” (Acts 4:11). The cornerstone was the most important stone to determine the placement, plumb and leveling of a building. The rest of the building would be impacted by the cornerstone. So it is with everyone who trusts the Lord Jesus Christ, the only valid salvific cornerstone. He is the only one that can truly set our lives on the course that is determined by Him. May we line up with His desires. For those who reject this Cornerstone their destiny is sealed as well— to be eternally separated from Him in Hell. May none who read this fall into the category…
