BEWARE OF SIN’S DECEPTION

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. —Hebrews 3:13

Sin is a deception, a wicked trick of the adversary. It promises pleasure, but it is a short-lived pleasure that can harden a person’s heart. Right from the beginning we see this in Adam and Eve’s life. Eve was deceived by the deceptive devil and had the short-lived please of eating the forbidden fruit. Adam joined her in eating the fruit and their short-lived pleasure impacted their hearts away from the Lord God Almighty and not toward Him. He is the One who sought Adam & Eve out. They did not seek Him out. This is the deception of sin—- it promises pleasure which it cannot produce long-term and keeps us from the Lord God Almighty who is the only One who can give us pleasure forever!

Is there a particular sin that is deceiving you? Are you thinking your marriage isn’t worth working for? That is sin’s deception. You should seek out the Lord’s answer for your marriage. Are you struggling with the sin of pornography? Then you need to seek out God’s purposes for sex and acknowledge that you are going against His design and purposes. Is over eating a problem for you? He tells us to ask for our daily bread— enough for that day and we need to learn not to consume more than we need according to His design and purposes for out body.

Just remember, sin, whatever one you want to discuss, deceives. It keeps us from what is best by its false promise. May we be wise and live according to His Word— according to His design and purposes. We also need brothers and sisters in a local fellowship to encourage us so sin won’t have its deceptive way in our lives and we also can encourage out brothers and sisters. Stay connect to a local fellowship, be encouraged and encourage.

Dear Father may this be so in all areas of my life. Oh, let me not allow sin to deceive me. May this be so according to Your Word, in the authority of Jesus and by the Holy Spirit’s power.
