Conduit of God’s Love
Let love be your highest goal! But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives—especially the ability to prophesy. —I Corinthians 14:1
Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments. —Matthew 22:37-40
What is your highest goal in life? Is it a good job, a good education, a good family, a big house, a good retirement? How about loving God? Is that your highest goal? Jesus said it was and that loving our neighbor was “equally important.”
How is the love of God expressed? Jesus said in John 14:15 that “”If you love me, keep my commands” and in 1 John 2:3-6 we read, “And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.”
We show love to God and for God by utilizing the spiritual gift or gifts He has given us through His Spirit. Serving Him and people with our giftedness is to be done upon the foundation of godly love. You and I are to be conduits of His love. So to whom will you and I be a conduit of love to today?
Dear Father, help me to be a ready vessel to love and serve You and people. May this be done in the Name of Jesus my Lord and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
