But this will be your opportunity to tell them about me. —Luke 21:13
When did you last share about Jesus with another person? Do you and I do so regularly or just on occasion? http://www.lifeway.com/Article/research-survey-sharing-christ-2012 The sad fact is there are many who follow the Lord Jesus Christ that do not regularly share the gospel with anyone.
The above verse in context speaks about a time coming when “there will be a time of great persecution. You will be dragged into synagogues and prisons, and you will stand trial before kings and governors because you are my followers” (Luke 21:12). Then the Lord told us that this is an opportunity to tell them about Him. The arrest of believers just for the reason that they are following Jesus is a gospel sharing opportunity with those we wouldn’t normally have contact with! Do believers even today see it this way?
May those who follow Jesus in America or any other country in this world be faithfully sharing the gospel now. Then when the time comes when we are arrested and brought before the authorities for our faith in Jesus, may we take that opportunity to share the gospel with them as well.
Dear Father, help us to be faithful in sharing the good news about Jesus now. If we are arrested for following Him, then may we be faithful in sharing the good news with those people as well. May this be done in the authority of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
