THE GREATEST GIFT EVER!
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. –John 3:16
Are you a giver or a taker? Do you like to receive or do you like to give away? Our culture in the U.S. is becoming a population of recipients of the government. “We’ve Crossed The Tipping Point; Most Americans Now Receive Government Benefits” http://www.forbes.com/sites/merrillmatthews/2014/07/02/weve-crossed-the-tipping-point-most-americans-now-receive-government-benefits/. People are becoming more dependent on the government. I heard of a sign in a mid-west park that read “Don’t feed the bears. They become dependent on you.”
Yet most Americans, and people in the world, have not received the greatest benefit available to them— the gift of God’s Son, Jesus. We are in the Christmas season which is all about Jesus, but America is becoming more hostile toward Christianity. There are the historical revisionists who deny that Christianity was prominent in the founding of this country. The historical documents and monuments speak for themselves that this was the case. But people look to push Christ even out of Christmas. Well, God’s plan will go forward regardless of man’s feeble attempts to derail it.
God gave us His Son, born of a virgin, born in Bethlehem, born to die for our sin that we could be saved from hell to a relationship with God through Jesus. There is no greater gift than eternal life through Jesus and a relationship with Him. People dream of a utopia. It does not exist on this planet. But the perfect place does exist and that is where those who trust Jesus will be— heaven.
This is one entitlement we should take. This is one benefit we should grab hold of. This is one gift we should receive— the gift of Jesus and life through Him— eternal life. He is the one we should be dependent on!
Thank You, dear Father for giving me the greatest gift any person can receive— the gift of Your Son. Out of the gratitude of my heart may I faithfully serve Him for the rest of my life. Yes, I do look forward to being in heaven with Jesus and all who love Him. What a day that will be and if will last forever!
