BEWARE: PROMOTERS OF LIES

And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: They commit adultery and live a lie …because from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land …each one’s word becomes their own message. So you distort the words of the living God, the Lord Almighty, our God. —Jeremiah 23:14-15; 36

There are those now among even “mainstream denominations” that are accepting ungodly sexual perversions as “Christian.” These leaders are living a lie and promoting ungodliness in the land. What they are communicating are their own words and not the Word of God. They distort the Word of God to justify their encouragement of wickedness.

Unfortunately, in our fallen sinful world, there are those who are in positions of spiritual leadership who are leading many away from the truth and not toward it just as it was happening in the days of Jeremiah in the above verses. The rottenness of their teachings is permeating our culture just as one rotten apple can negatively affect the whole bushel it is in.

As followers of Jesus we must stick to the Word of God. This is the only way we can know what is true and false. I am so grateful that God loves us so much and has given us His Guidebook so we do not have to be groping in the dark searching for truth. He has given us all the Light we need and as we live by His Light we will not be duped by those promoting the evil deeds of darkness.

Dear Father, thank You that we have Your Word, the Bible, to guide us day by day and to help us identify those who want to appear as promoters of truth but are actually dispensing lies. May I encourage people to look to Your truth in the authority of Jesus and by the Holy Spirit’s power.
