COMING DISASTER OR A TURNING FROM EVIL
If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I intended to do to it. And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it, and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will relent of the good that I had intended to do to it. —Jeremiah 18:7-10
According to the FBI’s national crime statistics, 1.2 million violent crimes were committed in the United States in 2012 – about the same as were committed in the US in 2011. These violent crimes include such crimes as murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. All saw increases nationally between 2011 and 2012.
US crime statistics also report that overall property crimes saw a drop between 2011 and 2012, dropping from 8.9 million to 8.8 million in 2012. Property crimes include larceny, burglary and motor vehicle thefts. The rate of burglaries decreased the most, dropping by 3.42% since 2011. Then there is the over 50,000,000 babies that have been killed through abortion and the general turning away from God and His ways. Are we not a nation that is practicing evil? Are we not in grave danger of the Lord bringing disaster upon us? Will we turn from evil? If we do not turn then He will “pluck up and break down and destroy” the United States. It is only a matter of time if we continue our evil ways.
There is hope for America if we turn from evil. The Lord God Almighty has used this country for good and He can do it again if we take the right action. He wants to do good to a nation who does good and not evil. Oh, that we may do the right things as a nation.
Dear Father, thank You for Your patience. May this nation honor You by turning from evil and doing good. You have blessed this nation, but I know that those blessing will disappear unless we turn to You. May we do so in the Name of Jesus.
