ISOLATION IS UNHEALTHY

ISOLATION IS UNHEALTHY

Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment. A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. Proverbs 18:1-2

We were not made to be in isolation but to be interdependent on each other. To only go by one’s own opinion is to be unteachable and is a lack of understanding. How true this is of the Church, the body of Christ. It is clearly stated in Romans 12:5 that “in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

In your body your hand has a function, so does your foot, your heart… but even though your body is made up of many different members, it is still one body.   So also the Church— “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it” (I Corinthians 12:27) and “just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ” (I Corinthians 12:12).

To function in a healthy manner is for all the members of the body to be operating as intended. So also with the Church to be functioning in a healthy manner is for all its members to be operating as intended with the spiritual gifts they have. The Holy Spirit is revealed or manifested through the spiritual gift that each member was given and these gifts given are for the common good of the Church, not for ourselves ( I Corinthians 12:7). Not to be used in isolation and independent of the rest of the body.

Beware of individuals or groups that isolate themselves from the Church, the body of Christ. It is unhealthy. Instead, let us be interdependent with each other in the local Church and the universal Church. Yes, dear Father, may this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxI0Yyy57Wo

By the way, this is how someone is known to be part of a cult— they isolate themselves from the rest of the universal Church and claim to be the only way.   They are easy to identify as we are abiding in Christ and listening to His Word…
