TRUST HIM!

They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. —Psalm 112:7

You who fear him, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield. —Psalm 115:11

If we are truly trusting in the Lord for all things then we will not even fear bad news. Unfortunately, sometimes when bad news comes we get distracted by it from remembering Who we trust. That is when we have to get refocused and immediately direct our trust in the Lord. He alone is our “help and shield.”

Bad new comes in all types of forms in this fallen world— a death, sickness, loss of income and the list goes on and on. Even though our life circumstances change, our Lord God Almighty does not change. He is always the same. He is not changed by circumstances. His love for us is not changed by circumstances. His concern for us is not changed by circumstances. His purposes and plans are not thwarted by circumstances. Yes, He alone is our protection. He alone is our help— directly or as He works through other people.

What bad news have you gotten lately? Let your heart be “steadfast, trusting in the Lord. He is above the bad news and is working in and through the bad news. We need to be patient and “wait for his plan to unfold” (Psalm 106:13). Trust Him!

Dear Father, may I be steadfast and trust You even in the midst of bad news. My help only ultimately comes from You. May I be patient as I wait for Your plan to unfold. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
