As that old proverb says, ‘From evil people come evil deeds.’ —I Samuel 24-:13
Or as Jesus said— “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. —Matthew 7:15-20
As David knew the Lord would protect Him, so we should know this as well. Nothing can happen to us unless God allows it or directs it to fulfill His purposes. There may be evil people who do evil things to harm us or even the Evil One himself may seek to harm us, but even he is limited by God (Job 2:6).
Good and evil people can be seen by the lives they live. Just as bad trees cannot bear good fruit so people who have not trusted Jesus as Lord and Savior cannot bear good fruit in their lives. But those who have trusted Jesus are like a good tree that cannot bear bad fruit as they are living for Him. A tree, a person is known by the fruit of their lives. They are known by the type of lives they live.
Proverbs 8:13 tells us that we are to “hate evil” and Romans 12:9 tells us to “Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” Just as evil will come from evil people, so also good will come from those who have trusted Jesus who alone is perfectly good. We are also told “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21). Let it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIiFgf-nPAI&list=PLcHqC9YNzSaD-O-rkP9o8hDA9jJ_oja4l&index=18
Dear Father, may I be an example to those around me and be about the good You desire. May this be done in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
