HONESTY

And they did not ask an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to pay out to the workmen, for they dealt honestly.—II Kings 12:15

            King Johoash did was right in the eyes of the Lord and he ordered that the house of the Lord to be repaired wherever there needed repairing.  As money was being spent for repair there was “not ask an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to pay out to the workmen, for they dealt honestly.”

            Imagine that today!  No invoice describing what was done.  No questioning if the repair was done right.  No worry that the money was being well spent and what needed to be fixed was being fixed.  There was no concern that there was overspending or price gouging. There was such honesty of those handling the money that they were trusted to be spending it correctly and nobody needed to check into it.  Wow… that is an honesty that we would all like!  Imagine if our government could be trusted to spend every dime correctly!

            Have you ever wondered if you were overcharged for something?  Or, has someone told you one price and they you got charged another?  Recently we bought some wood chips for our playground at our Early Learning Center.  I was told a price, but it was some surprise that the cost of delivering the chips was one-third the total bill.  Wow… that was a surprise and yet with the cost of fuel because of inflation… it is not surprising…  It just was not mentioned ahead of time.

            There were times, in my parent’s day, where a handshake did seal a deal and it could be expected that a person would honestly keep up their end of the deal.  Those days are all but gone.  But there is coming a time when honesty will reign forever.  Yes… what a joy that will be when everything will be perfect.  Dear Father I so look forward to being with Jesus in that perfect place and with all who love Him.  Yes, what a joy that will be.  Until then Father may I live faithfully for You by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.  May I be faithful and honest with the resources You have given me.  So may it be so!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9O1GPUqn8M
