THE GREAT PHYSICIAN!
THE GREAT PHYSICIAN!
And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean…” So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. Then he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and he came and stood before him. And he said, “Behold, I know that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel…” Then Naaman said, “…from now on your servant will not offer burnt offering or sacrifice to any god but the LORD. —II Kings 5:10, 14-15, 17
Whether in the New Testament or Old Testament our Lord worked through healings many times to impact people’s lives. In the context of the passage above the commander of the Syrian army was a leper. He “was a great man with his master and in high favor, because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria. He was a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper” (II Kings 5:1).
Naaman’s wife’s servant girl said to her “Would that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy” (II Kings 5:3). Upon getting permission from the king, Naaman went in search of the prophet. The prophet told him to go dip himself in the Jordan River seven times and he would be cured. At first Naaman was angry. He had thought the prophet would just speak a word to God, wave his hand and he would be healed. Initially Naaman stormed off in a rage because the prophet did not work a miracle the way Naaman thought he would.
Fortunately Naaman’s servants talked with him and encouraged him to take the action the prophet spoke of. His servants said, “My father, it is a great word the prophet has spoken to you; will you not do it? Has he actually said to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” (II Kings 5:13). Naaman listen to his servants, dipped himself seven times and his skin became like a little child’s. He then return to the prophet and acknowledged— “Behold, I know that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel.” He also said that “from now on your servant will not offer burnt offering or sacrifice to any god but the LORD.” This great Syrian army commander was very much impacted through his healing and confessed our Lord God as the only God.
Have a health issue? Have you gone to our Lord about it or have you just depended on earthly doctors. Not to say our Lord God doesn’t work through doctors because He does. He is the One who gives all knowledge and so the knowledge the doctors have to help in the healing process comes from Him. But have you gone to Him directly. He is the Great Physician. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2CwvOpc4R4
Dear Father may I trust You first with my health. You are ultimately in control of all things, including people’s health. You have marked out the number days I am to live and the race of life that I am to live. May I trust You fully by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. So may it be!
