SERVE
SERVE
“Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’ ” —Luke 17:7-10
None of us deserved God’s favor upon us. We were all rebellious toward Him. All of us were going our own way and not His way. The whole world is guilty before Him of insurrection. We are rebels, outlaws and lawbreakers. God’s way revealed to us is all by His grace— His undeserved favor. Salvation is a gift to all who call on Jesus. He is God’s greatest gift to us!
Just as the servant in the passage above, so we are called to be servants. We were never “worthy” to be even in this position of service to our King. He is the One who made the way for us to even be His servants. Now, as His servants, we are to be obedient to Him. Yes, it is our duty to do so. So… are you and I being obedient to what He has said to us or is saying to us? Out of our great gratitude may we be faithful servants and not forget that “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the last of all and the servant of all” (Mark 9:35).
Dear Father may I truly be a faithful and obedient servant out of my love for You. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdmgpMfnjdU
