FAITH… BELIEVES!
FAITH… BELIEVES!
He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.” Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well. —Luke 7:6-10
Do we truly believe what God says in His Word? Do we truly believe He will do what He says He will do? Do we truly understand the authority that Jesus has?
The centurion in the passage above did not consider himself worthy to have Jesus come to his home. This man knew that Jesus could just say the word and his highly valued servant would be healed. The centurion understood authority. He had some himself. He just had to speak to those under his authority and he would be obeyed. He absolutely knew that Jesus just had to speak the word and his servant would be healed. He also knew Jesus did not have to be physically present, but could heal from a distance. And this is what happened. This man had an understanding about Jesus that the vast majority of the Jewish nation did not have.
Jesus said to the crowd that was following Him, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.” Here was a Gentile soldier exhibiting such faith that it amazed Jesus. Jesus did heal that centurion’s servant and when the men that were sent to Jesus returned to the centurion’s house they found the servant well.
Again, do you and I truly understand the authority that Jesus has? Do we understand according to Matthew 28:16-20 that you and I are sent in His authority to do His will? Will we believe what He says and obey? To do so reveals our faith in Him! To disobey is disbelief. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_aVFVveJNs
Dear Father I am so grateful to know I can fully trust You. Oh, that I would be faithful to be and do what You desire. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
