BE A SERVANT!
BE A SERVANT!
But they kept silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest. And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.” —Mark 9:34-37

Want to be great in the Lord? Want to be significant in the Lord? Want to make an impact in the Lord? Want to leave a legacy in the Lord? Then be a servant!
The servant will intentionally make themselves last. They do not seek to be first. They do not seek the limelight. They do not seek to be noticed. They go about their service quietly, not seeking attention to it. Many times this service is behind the scenes. There are times only our Lord knows of their service and those who are blessed by it.
The servant is willing to serve anyone. It does not matter skin color, nationality, whether those served are rich or poor etc. No, the servant desires to serve whoever our Lord wants them to serve and has a joyful heart in doing so.
The servant is willing serve the most venerable among us— children. Children in Jesus day, and to a large degree in our day, had little voice and influence. The Lord’s servant is willing to be their voice and to be their influence. The Lord’s servant is willing to serve children however our Lord desires.
Being a servant to people for Jesus is how one becomes great in God’s sight! Who will you serve today?
Dear Father today as I spend time with those at the State Prison, please help me to be their servant however You would have me to be. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
