NOT ALONE!

NOT ALONE!

Work, for I am with you, declares the LORD of hosts. —Haggai 2:4

What is the work our Lord God Almighty has prepared for you? —“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10).  Fellow follower of Jesus, He “gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works” (Titus 2:14).  Let me ask you again, what is the work our Lord has prepared for you to do and are you being “zealous” in it?

Years ago while I was in college in South Carolina, I was sharing the gospel door to door or house to house.  As I was walking up to a very large house fear of who might answer the door gripped me.  It was at that point I prayed, “Lord, You said You would never leave me nor forsake me and that You will be with me until the end of the age.  So I am trusting that You are with me.  Let’s go.”  That is my constant prayer in whatever I do in serving Him.  I cannot do it.  I don’t want to do it in my own strength.  But, He is with me.  His Holy Spirit resides in me.  I am not alone.

I was talking with a pastor recently and also heard another pastor friend speak on the same topic— commitment and the lack of it in marriages and the church.  Today, many people are not committed the long haul, but only to short haul.  The church seems to be reflecting our culture in this lack of commitment.  Many followers of Jesus do not want to lead up ministries, but are more willing to help.  Now helping it good, but if we do not have people committed to leading ministry then there will be no need for anybody to help.  Marriages… way too many end.  People are not committed to the long haul.  I am sure glad that Jesus is committed to me forever.  That truly is amazing!  Oh, that I will be committed to Him, my marriage and to the work He has for me.  I am not alone in it.  He is with me! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow4OfW4DP9s

So what about you?  Are you serving Him in the work He has for you?  Sin will keep us from that work.  Sin will keep us from being joyful servers of His.  Sin will have us involved in anything and everything but the work He has for us.  May we be faithful in serving Him in the work He has prepared for us in advance that we should do.  May it be so!

Dear Father, may I serve You in the capacities that You desire me to serve You in.  May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus!
