THE WALK OF THE GODLY
THE WALK OF THE GODLY
O LORD, who may abide in Your tent? Who may dwell on Your holy hill? He who walks with integrity and practices righteousness, who speaks the truth from his heart, who has no slander on his tongue, who does no harm to his neighbor, who casts no scorn on his friend, who despises the vile but honors those who fear the LORD, who does not revise a costly oath, who lends his money without interest and refuses a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken. —Psalm 15
And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not. —Malachi 3:18
The above Psalm some of what the evidence would look like for a person to be sincerely following the Lord. He would:
- walk with integrity
- practices righteousness
- speak the truth from his heart
- have no slander on his tongue
- does no harm to his neighbor
- cast no scorn on his friend
- despise the vile
- honor those who fear the LORD
- not revise a costly oath
- lend his money without interest
- refuse a bribe against the innocent
Are these the characteristics of our lives? Those who have called on the Name of the Lord (Romans 10:13) are clothed in the righteousness of Christ (Psalm 132:9; I Peter 2:9; Galatians 3:27; II Corinthians 5:21). These characteristics will be evident in their lives. We are not saved by what we do, but we do because we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5; James 2:14-25). It is out of loving gratitude that we desire to be and do what He desires. May we live in such a way as to bring honor and glory to His Name. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkHqaBxPoAM&t=1s
Dear Father, I am grateful for Who You are and for all You have done for me. Now, out of that loving gratitude may I live in such a way that is pleasing in Your sight. May it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it!
