REMEMBER!

REMEMBER!

Remember Lot’s wife! —Luke 17:32

When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them. As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!” —Genesis 19:16-17

But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. —Genesis 19:26

Lot’s wife disobeyed and she was judged because of it. We are to remember her and not do what she did. She longed for the place she had been, longed for her stuff, was tied to the temporary of this world. “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” (Mark 8:36). The temporary was more import to her than obedience.

How is it with us who claim the Name of Jesus? Where is our treasure? Where is our heart’s focus? May it be on the eternal and not on the temporal. The shelves of our lives bear witness to what is important to us. What are they filled with— Heaven’s treasure or earthly wares? Oh, that we would have the right focus and “throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2). So be it…

Dear Father, may I keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and finish the race marked out for me. May I not turn back. May I not focus on the temporary. May my treasure focus be on that which is eternal. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzoxsxsIMCE
