RIGHTEOUSNESS BY FAITH IN JESUS

I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. —Philippians 3:7-9

You and I have no righteousness of our own. All our works are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:4). The only righteousness we can claim is that which comes through knowing the Lord Jesus Christ. All those who have not trusted Jesus, well, God’s Word says all their “works are as filthy rags.”

There is not one thing I could have done to be righteous except by calling on the Name of Jesus my Lord (Romans 10:13). When I called on Him I was made right with God— “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ” (II Corinthians 5:21). He did that work then and He does that work now. Christ’s righteousness that comes by faith is not a short-lived righteousness, no, it is an eternal righteousness that is accounted to us (Romans 4:5; Galatians 3:6; James 2:23)! Dear Father, thank You for the righteousness that comes through Jesus. I am grateful. Oh that I would live a life of gratitude to honor the Lord Jesus. May it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit.
