THE GOSPEL METAMORPHISM—-TRANSFORMS THOSE WHO BELIEVE

The gospel changes lives. How can a person claim to know the Lord Jesus Christ and live life without any change noticeable in their lives? To truly know Jesus, to truly have relationship with Him means that He is in the process of transforming us in thoughts, words and deeds.

This does not mean that those who have trusted Jesus live a perfect life. No, that is not the case at all. But what it does mean is that there is change taking place in the person who has truly trusted Jesus and called on His Name for salvation and forgiveness of sin, willing to turn from one’s own ways to follow His ways.

Just as the ugly caterpillar changes into a beautiful butterfly, so too the Lord God Almighty is changing us into what He desires. He raised us from our sinful deadness to new life in Him and with Him. Now He is in the process of transforming us over the rest of our life. We should be able to look back and see how He has changed us to this point. If we cannot see any change in our lives, well, we truly need to reflect on whether we have truly trusted Jesus or not.

In the above verse we are told that the gospel changed the lives of the Colossians right from the day they first heard and understood the truth. In other words, change started to occur immediately. Was it all noticeable on the outside? Surely there was change taking place on the inside that would eventually be seen outwardly. Not all people transform at the same pace for a variety of factors, but over time there should be change seen. May that be the case in our lives as it is happening in people’s lives all over this world. Rejoice in being metamorphized by our Lord God Almighty!

Dear Father, may transformation be taking place in my live that others would take notice and be drawn to what You are changing me into. May this be so that others could come to You and bring honor and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. May it be so!
