FOLLOWERS/DISCIPLES OF JESUS ARE SENT WITH HIS MESSAGE!

Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.” —John 13:20

             Jesus said…

• He sends people to others
• There are those who will accept the people Jesus sent
• Those accepting the people Jesus sent are accepting Jesus
• There are those who will accept Jesus
• Those accepting Jesus accept the Father who sent Him

Yes, truly, Jesus said, “As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world” (John 17:18).  So, brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, we have been sent into the world to make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20).  Jesus was sent into the world to bring us the Good News— Himself.  Now we are to take Him to others.  If they accept the Jesus message we bring, then they accept Jesus.

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.  How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” —Romans 10:14-14

             If you are a follower/disciple of Jesus then you are a sent one.  He has sent you with a message, His message, to bring to others.  There will be others who will accept the Jesus message you share with them and by doing so they accept Jesus.  We are asking people to accept Jesus, to follow Jesus, to be a disciple of Jesus.  We are not asking them to be—

• Just a church attender
• Just trying to be a good person
• Just belonging to a denomination
• Just to be blindly following some other person other than Jesus
• Just to take people at their word and not looking into God’s Word themselves
• Just try to do good things
