KEEP AND APPLY HIS WORD!
Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you. —Deuteronomy 4:2
Teach them to your children and to their children after them… teach them to their children. — Deuteronomy 4:9-10
See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it. — Deuteronomy 12:32
Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar. —Proverbs 30:6
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. —Revelation 22:18-19
The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher. —Luke 6:40
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.” —Luke 6:46-49
Are you sticking to God’s Word; clinging to what He has to say? Are you following those who are doing the same? A person will not go wrong if they adhere to His Word. The warning is 1- do not add to His Word and 2- do not take away from His Word. And we are to be teaching our children the Word of God and encourage them to keep it as well. Are we doing these things?
We look at II Timothy 2:2 and we read this— “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.”
- Jesus gave Paul “the things” which is the Word of God.
- Paul shared these things (the Word of God) with Timothy “in the presence of many witnesses.
- Timothy was to entrust “these things” (the Word of God) to reliable people
- Reliable were to “be qualified” with “these things” (the Word of God) to teach others
- Others were to receive “these things” (the Word of God)
The Word of God the “others” received was to be the same Word of God that Jesus gave Paul. The Word of God we received should be the same passed on from them all the way to us. We in turn are to be sharing the same Word of God— being careful not to add to it or take away from it. We are to be like those teachers that pass on His Word faithfully. In this way we will not be shaken because we are “well built” in His Word because we not only hear His Word, but we obey what He says. Dear Father, may this be the case in my own life— that I apply Your Word— and in the lives of those reading this. Yes, may it be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://youtu.be/0OtiTu9_4Bo?list=RD0OtiTu9_4Bo&t=24
