LOVINGLY OBEY!

The Israelites had done all the work just as the Lord had commanded Moses. Moses inspected the work and saw that they had done it just as the Lord had commanded. So Moses blessed them. —Exodus 39:42-43

Moses did everything just as the Lord commanded him. —Exodus 40:16

The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” —Mark 1:27

For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.  If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer. —Proverbs 9:11-12

             Our Lord commanded Moses how to do the work in creating and setting up the tabernacle.  Moses commanded the people and then he “inspected the work and saw that they had done it just as the Lord had commanded.”  Moses, the leader, and all the Israelites did everything they were commanded to do.

             When Jesus was on earth, He commanded evil spirits and they obeyed Him— “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”  We are told that Jesus all authority—

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” —Matthew 28:18-20

             Moses obeyed our Lord’s commands (although he did not always do this perfectly).  The Israelites obeyed our Lord’s commands (although they did not always do this perfectly).  The demons obeyed our Lord’s commands and they have no choice but to obey.  What about you and I?  Do we seek to lovingly obey our Lord’s commands and do so out of love for God and love for people?
