BELIEF— IN JESUS OR YOURSELF
And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness. —Genesis 15:6
Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord, would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices. —Proverbs 1:29-31
Do you really want to be the captain of your own life… forever? That will only lead to destruction… and after this life… eternal destruction and that is not annihilation, but eternity in hell which I don’t understand, but Jesus warned of it many times. So, do you really want to be the captain of your own life?
In Genesis 15:6, Abraham decided to have our Lord God Almighty as Captain of his life. He believed what our Lord said and because of that, our Lord “counted it to him as righteousness” —that is, a right standing before God. Because of Abraham’s belief, all nations of the earth would be affected through him.
On the other hand, those who have “they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord, would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices.” Look around you. It does not take too long to see that our world is a mess— messy personal relationships, messy family relationships, messy business relationships, messy town/city government relationships, messy state government relationships, messy national relationships, messy world of nation relationships… Yes, our world is a mess and it is all because men have chosen to be the captains of their own lives and to not believe in our Lord God Almighty and allow Him to be the Captain of their lives and any level of relationships. The world is eating the fruit of their own way and devices.
I met a fellow yesterday at the gym. As we were talking, he mentioned that his goal and life is to treat others kindly and hopefully he will make it to heaven. I asked him that if that were the case, if we could get to heaven just by being good (as we define it), then why did Jesus come to this world to die on the cross? He did not know and so I had the opportunity to share the “why” with him. Would you pray for Tom right now— that he would read what I gave him and come to the point of calling on Jesus to be saved (Romans 10:13)? Please pray right now… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3sNyZ1RSEk&t=1s Yes, Dear Father, please help Tom to come to know Jesus and live for Him now. May it be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihrUIPfvTh8&list=RDihrUIPfvTh8&start_radio=1
