Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. —Acts 16:6-10
What a difference a 3-hour flight can do with the weather. Yesterday Elaine and I were walking the beach’s white sand and enjoying 80-degree temperatures for the last time in 2025. Today we just stepped out to take this picture, ground covered in white as well, but the temperature is 16 degrees. We did not stay out too long. But on those sunny beaches we walked miles and miles each day and met so many people to converse with. Not many people are out in the cold here today…
Adjustments… changes… We surely do not dress the same way in one climate as we do another. We have to make changes. So it is as we follow our Lord Jesus Christ. There are times that we desire to go in one direction, but He changes our direction even when we do not know the outcome.
So it is in God’s Word today as we see Paul and his team was going to head north, but God’s Holy Spirit guided them west instead— even though, at the moment, they did not know why. As they were obedient, God gave Paul “a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.” Obedience brings more revelation in time… Is there an adjustment God is calling you on the eve of New Years eve? You don’t want to dress inappropriately for the climate you are in and neither should you not adjust to the direction our Lord God Almighty is guiding you in.
