REFUSING TO REPENT (TURN FROM EVIL WAYS), REFUSING TO CALL ON JESUS
The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done. —Revelation 16:8-11
There are people who just not will not repent of what they have one. They just refused to do so. Even when the wrath of God is coming on them through these plagues, and yes God is in control of them, they “cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done.” Truly—
- Being scorched with fire
- Being seared by intense heat
- Being plunged into darkness
- Gnawing their tongues in agony
- Being in pain
- Having sores
- Knowing these judgments are from God
Even though they are going through these hard times, people still will not repent and turn to God! How sad this is, but today there are so many people going through so many difficulties as well, but they will not repent and turn to God. How sad! But brother and sister, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). You and I called on Jesus to save us (Romans 10:13) and surely there are others who will also when they hear the message (Romans 10:14-15). So, in this Christmas season of 2025, let us share the good news with others!
