HE SEES IT ALL!

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. —Philippians 1:3-6

If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me. —Philippians 1:22-26

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,  not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. —Philippians 2:3-4

When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” —Psalm 11:3

The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion. —Psalm 11:5

As we look at some of Paul’s thoughts, let’s reflect and see if they are our thoughts as well.  Paul—

  • Thanked God every time he remembered the Philippian believers.  Who are the believers I thank God for every time I remember them?
  • Prayed with joy because of the Philippian’s partnership in the gospel.  Who do I pray for with joy because of their partnership in the gospel?
  • Was confident that the work our Lord began in them would be carried on to completion until Jesus came.  Who do I have this type of confidence in?
  • Knew remaining in the body meant fruitful labor for him.  Do I have this same conviction?
  • Was torn between departing and being with Jesus and to remain in the body for the Philippians progress in their joy in the faith that they would boast all the more about Jesus.  Do I have this same attitude and motivation?
  • Did not want to do anything out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.  Is this my desire as well?
  • Humbly valued others above himself.  Do I?
  • Look out for the interests of others.  Is this my focus?

I hear people fret because of foundational truths being destroyed, or that have been destroyed, in our culture.  “What can the righteous do?”  We are to be and do what our Lord desires, regardless of what the culture does around us.  “The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion.”  Our Lord knows all and He will, one day, set all things right.  We, brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, can count on that fully!  So, Dear Father, please help me to be what You desire.  Please forgive me for all my sins and failures and help me to be more faithful today that I was yesterday and then more faithful tomorrow that I am today.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Yes, and may this be so for all Your honor and glory.  So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFvPOZ2Oay8&list=RDvFvPOZ2Oay8&start_radio=1
