TAKE GOD AT HIS WORD!

Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught. —Luke 1:1-4

            Luke, as he was moved by God (II Timothy 3:16), sought “to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word.”  So, Luke got his information from “eyewitnesses.”  These were people that saw the things Luke has written about with their own eyes.

            So, Luke “carefully investigated everything from the beginning.”  Then he “decided to write an orderly account for you… so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.”  Yes, apparently Luke wrote to a specific person— most excellent Theophilus— but he has also written these things for us who are living 2000 years later.  Wow… this is truly amazing that we have the Word of God in the forms we have today after so many years!

            The reason Luke wrote to Theophilus, and us, was that we “may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.”  So, what follows in the Book of Luke, and in all of God’s Word, is an accurate account that we can be certain of.  God’s Word is fully trustworthy.  Thank You, Dear Father, for Your Word in all the forms we have today.  Oh, that we would share Your message powerfully by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of our Lord Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6Jdy4B_5A4&list=RDL6Jdy4B_5A4&start_radio=1
