OUR LORD IS TO BE PRAISED— IN GOOD AND BAD TIMES

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”  “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.” —Job 1:8-11

At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart.  The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”  In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing. —Job 1:20-22

The Lord does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.  He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses. —Psalm 135:6-7

In the opening chapters of the Book of Job we read about how our Lord allows Satan to take everything from Job— his business, his family, his health, his wife’s support and we will see that his “friends” not supportive as well.  He lost everything dear to him.  What would you do in his situation?  Well, the first thing Job did when these terrible losses came upon him was to worship our Lord.  Would that be our first response?

There is much, so much, that we do not understand.  Our Lord is so much more than we are in every way.  We cannot understand Him apart from what He has revealed to us.  We are not the ones in control as we often think we are.  No, “The Lord does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.  He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.”  In His Sovereignty, He is carrying out His plans and purposes.  May we line up with what He is doing.  Yes, Dear Father, may we do so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB4eC55dh-U
