THE SOVEREIGN LORD IS MY REFUGE
THE SOVEREIGN LORD IS MY REFUGE
They say, “How would God know? Does the Most High know anything?” —Psalm 73:11
Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds. —Psalm 73:23-28
Those who do not know our Lord say, “How would God know? Does the Most High know anything?” They do not understand that—
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” —Hebrews 4:12-13
Those who do not know our Lord better consider that “Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.” They need to “come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26).
“But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” Yes, this is what I live for— to seek to honor my Sovereign Lord. Dear Father, may I do so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Yes, may this be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sgfoGoBhC8
