FIRST PRIORITY— TRUST IN GOD, NOT MAN!

FIRST PRIORITY— TRUST GOD, NOT MAN!

Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD. He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? “I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” —Jeremiah 17:5-10

If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I intended to do to it. And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it, and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will relent of the good that I had intended to do to it. —Jeremiah 18:7-10

But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. —I Timothy 6:8-10

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life. —I Timothy 6:17-19

Our Lord knows our heart.  He knows who or what we are truly trusting in.  Who or what are you really trusting in?  Are you putting your trust first in people or our Lord?  To trust in man “is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come.”  In contrast, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”  So again, I ask, “Who or what are you trusting in as first priority?

Man’s “heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? ‘I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.’”  Our Lord knows exactly who we are and we will answer to Him and give an account of how we lived life.  Do we live in contentment or do we “set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches,” but not “on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.”  “Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”  Instead, let us “do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for (ourselves) as a good foundation for the future, so that (we) may take hold of that which is truly life.”  Yes, God knows our hearts better than we do, but once again— “Who or what are we trusting in?”  Let us put our trust first most in God.  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Dear Son Jesus.  Yes, so may it be!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sgfoGoBhC8
