THE FAITHLESS AND FAITHFUL CONTRASTED

THE FAITHLESS AND THE FAITHFUL CONTRASTED

Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe and runs after gifts. They do not bring justice to the fatherless, and the widow’s cause does not come to them. —Isaiah 1:23

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. —Galatians 2:20

There should be a clear contrast between those who love and live for Jesus and those who do not.  Look at rulers, those in authority, who do not love and live for Jesus.  They…

  • Are rebels— Look at many of our rulers, those in authority today. There are not many who follow our Lord.  Most are rebelling against Him.  That is why we have the mess we have today in all areas of life.
  • Are companions of thieves— Look at the national debt. There is no intent to pay it back and God’s Word is clear— “The wicked borrow and do not repay…” (Psalm 37:21) We have wicked people in authority!
  • Are taking bribes— So may take bribes and God’s Word says they “acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent” (Isaiah 5:23).
  • Are running after gifts— How is it that many come out of office as multi-millionaires. How do they make their money?  What influence are they giving for gifts?
  • Are not bringing justice to the fatherless— Wow… if it is true that there are 350,000 children they been “lost” that have come over the border, that is utterly injustice. You know that absolute wicked people are harming these children as so many are being trafficked.  This is wicked injustice.
  • Are not standing up for the widow’s cause— Manipulation of the economy hurts those who are poorest among us. Inflation eats up the widow’s finances and we have wicked rulers that are not looking out for the best interests of the people.  Most government leaders are no longer “civil servants.”  No, instead they are serving themselves.

On the other hand, those who follow Jesus love Him and what He loves.  They desire to live for Him and do what is right, according to God’s standards.  They—

  • Seek not to rebel but be obedient (John 14:21).
  • Seek not to be companions of thieves but want to walk in the way of righteousness (Proverbs 1:10-19).
  • Seek not bribes or gifts (Philippians 4:17).
  • Seek after justice (Micah 6:8).
  • Seek the widows cause (James 1:27).

This verse sums up where many of our leaders are today— “Your rulers are rebels, partners with thieves; they all love bribes and chase after gifts. They do not defend the cause of the fatherless; the widow’s case does not come before them” (Isaiah 1:23).  Even thought that may be the case, brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus, we are to be loving and living for Jesus and serving Him, His people and the lost.  Let us be faithful to what He has called us to, remembering that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12).  So, “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10).  Yes, Dear Father, may it be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Dear Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu2S9y3r0XE
